Nutritional Counseling
Why choose Nutrition Counseling at MultiCare Therapy Center?
The members of our clinical team are all professionals who we have
chosen because of their skills, experience, and commitment to
quality patient care. Our clinical staff consists of licensed Physical
Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Respiratory Therapists, Clinical
Social Workers, and Registered Dietitians, all working in conjunction
with our Medical Director (licensed Medical Doctor) and in
communication with your referring physician. This multidisciplinary
approach enhances the quality of your individual care and treatment
plan by allowing your dietitian to easily access input from these
related specialties. Often a client will discover another service
available in our facility that can benefit his or her new commitment to
a healthy lifestyle.  Many clients who seek Nutrition Counseling will
also benefit from an exercise and conditioning program. Changes in
nutrition can help increase a client's energy level, as well as his or
her desire to exercise.  Our physical therapists can help you create
and implement an exercise program that begins at your current level
of strength and endurance, and can progress as your nutritional
status improves.  At MultiCare Therapy Center we encourage regular
communication with your referring physician throughout your course
of counseling and treatment, and whenever changes in your
condition or other concerns may arise. We welcome input from you
and your referring physician to assist us in providing the most
appropriate programs to suit your individual needs.

What can I expect at my initial & follow up nutrition consultations?
The initial nutrition consultations are scheduled for 60-90 minutes.
At the initial consultation, the client’s  current nutrition status will be
assessed by our Registered Dietitians, who will help the client
make positive, realistic changes in his or her eating habits. Current
dietary intakes will be estimated, menu plans will be designed to fit
an individual’s unique needs and to meet his or her nutritional
goals. Clients will receive scientifically based advice and up-to-date
nutritional information for long-term results. Education materials for
specific diets will be provided. The follow up sessions are generally
scheduled for 15-60 minutes, in which nutrition goals are reinforced.
